As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, Stoneleigh-Burnham supports 135 boarding and day students in grades 7-12 from across the country and around the world. 28 faculty and staff members hold advanced degrees. The average class size is 10 students.

Academics & International Baccalaureate (IB)
Our intentionally small school provides a supportive environment for girls to push themselves. Every voice in the room counts and each girl will contribute to every class with her unique opinions, worldview, and ideas. In grades 9&10, students enjoy small class sizes and interdisciplinary lessons which prepare them to pursue the IB diploma in 11th and 12th grade if they choose to. The IB curriculum encourages students to think and to draw connections across disciplines of study – not to just memorize material for a test. The IB curriculum is like no other in preparing students to succeed in our globalized and interconnected 21st century society. IB students are critical-thinkers who approach subjects with a sense of international-mindedness.
Debate & Public Speaking
Learning to speak with confidence and clarity lies at the heart of the SBS experience and is the mark of a Stoneleigh-Burnham girl. From our worldclass Debate & Public Speaking Society to our student government organization and our 10th grade rhetoric course, our students have unlimited opportunities to explore their opinions, develop their arguments, engage their voices, and practice self-advocacy.
Residential Life
Lifelong friendships are made at SBS! Living together in dorms brings girls together like a family - a family with members from all over the US and across the globe. Girls and their roommates make their living spaces uniquely theirs, and Houseparents and Residential Assistants make each student feel at home.
Equestrian Program
Our Equestrian Center is located on campus and that means girls can walk from their classes and dorm rooms directly to the barn. Licensed coaches provide instruction tailored to all levels with training in equitation, hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, and equine studies. In addition to the riding program, SBS is proud to be the only secondary school in the US to offer the prestigious British Horse Society Certification which aligns perfectly with our commitment to globalmindedness.
Athletics
Athletics are an integral part of everyday life at SBS. With options at the varsity and junior varsity level, every student is encouraged to push herself physically and to learn the values of leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Weekend Activities
Local shuttle into town; shopping trips; trips to surrounding cities, including Boston and New York City; concerts, plays, museums; dances and mixers; coffee shop/restaurant trips; community service and activism; college visits; asian market and hot pot; hiking, biking, swimming, skating, and skiing; visits to local farms; lots of on campus activities including outdoor movies, badminton, campfires, laser tag, and more!
Visual & Performing Arts
At SBS, music, visual arts, theater, and dance are fully integrated into our curriculum and that means our girls are encouraged to express themselves creatively every day.

Financial Aid
SBS is committed to making its education affordable to families from a wide economic range. Enrolling a talented and diverse student body – bright students with a variety of experiences and backgrounds – is central to our mission. Where possible, qualified families may defray a portion of the cost of an SBS education through our allocated funds. SBS has an annual financial aid budget of approximately $2.5 million and provides need-based financial aid to 47% of our families.
Global Scholarships
SBS deeply values diversity among its student population and as a result, seeks to attract students from all corners of the world. Global scholarships are available to our top international applicants once they have been accepted to SBS. The committee reviews the whole student and values strong academic performance, involvement in co-curricular activities, and strong character traits.
Tuition
$53,550 (We do offer financial aid and scholarships to international students and families)
We do not require a standardized test (SSAT, SAT, etc.) but we do require an English language assessment (TOEFL, TOEFL Jr., Duolingo, etc.).
