At One Worldist, students work with native English speakers who are professionally certified, experienced exam tutors. 

One-to-one lessons can be done at our Taksim or Kozyatağı branch, or at the student's home or workplace. Lesson days and times can be arranged according to the student's availability. Lessons can start at 8:30am in the morning at the earliest and 10pm in the evening at the latest.

Before starting a program, determining a student’s English level and setting him or her on the right path is crucial to achieving fast, efficient success. At One World Test, we have two paths, a pre-IELTS program for students of low intermediate level and below, and a more advanced path for students of upper-intermediate level and above. Which path a student should be on is determined by an IELTSand English level placement test, which we offer free of charge.

One-to-One Pre-IELTS Program:

The pre-IELTS program is for students who take our English Level Test and IELTS Band Score Test and achieve a net score of 5.0 or lower. The goal of the program is to improve upon the student’s General English knowledge while concurrently training for IELTS test topics.

Reading:

Students will begin by learning to quickly recognize IELTS question types and how to approach finding the answers. The subject matter and question types will be IELTS-specific but will be shorter and easier, and thus more manageable, than the actual test. In the pre-IELTS program, students will learn how to effectively skim and scan texts in order to quickly and effectively find answers. Process of elimination techniques are learned and practiced.

Writing:

In writing, an ability to quickly organize one’s ideas and implement them in an organized fashion is key. Students will practice how to organize their thoughts and essays quickly. In the first task of the IELTS Academic Writing module, students must be able to analyze graphs, tables, charts, diagrams, etc, so particular vocabulary and grammar must be learned and utilized. In the second writing task, students must use a wide range of vocabulary. Learning relevant words about common IELTS writing topics will be a focus of the lessons.

Listening:

Students must be able to understand various accents: Canadian, British, Australian and New Zealand. There is no one way to go about doing this. Students will learn and practice diverse methods for improving their comprehension both in and outside the lessons. In the lessons, IELTS-specific listening activities will be done so that the student can get used to the question types.

Speaking:

Students have to be able to speak at a high level of proficiency to obtain a high score in the Speaking module. To that end, vocabulary, idiomatic speech, pronunciation, fluency and confidence is key. The pre-IELTS program focuses improving students in these areas, as well as commit to memory answers to the most common IELTS questions.

IELTS One-to-One Preparatory Program:

The pre-IELTS program is for students who take our English Level Test and IELTS Band Score Test and achieve a net score of 5.5 or higher. The goal of the program is to assist the student in getting a 6.5 or higher in the most expedient and effective way possible.

Reading:

Most students have two or three question types with which they have difficulty. Students will be tutored in how to address these question types. Skimming and scanning, as well as process of elimination skills will be taught. Many students having timing problems in the Reading, so time management techniques will be learned.

Writing:

In the Writing module, being able to establish a quick outline is extremely important. Adherence to strict essay organization and format must be practiced. Students must have a wide range of vocabulary about a range of topics at their disposal. The first writing task in the Academic Test requires that students learn and be able to use specific vocabulary and sentence structures. The second writing task requires students to be able to think creatively, evaluate arguments, and use effective examples to prove a point.

Listening:

Improving one’s listening in a short amount of time can be a challenge, one that requires a strict routine of hard and dedicated work. In order to improve listening skills in preparation for the IELTS test, students will be shown effective ways to improve listening comprehension both inside and outside of the lesson. Students will practice IELTS-specific question types and listening activities. In addition to that, listening activities from a variety of other sources will be needed for practice outside of the lesson.

Speaking:

To achieve a high speaking score, students have to be able to carry on a conversation about everyday topics in a measured, natural way. Test takers must also be able to easily understand the questions asked. In order to accomplish this, students must become acquainted with a certain number of fundamental topics that are addressed in the Speaking module. Students will practice developing exceptional answers for simple questions. Most students are not comfortable using complex grammar structures, so familiarizing oneself with such structures is a focus of the lessons.
