BILET Preparation
At One World, students work with native-speaker teachers who hold professional teaching certificates and have experience in exam preparation. Lessons can be held at our Beşiktaş and Kadıköy offices, at the student's home or at another convenient location.
The BILET exam is a specific exam of Bilgi University. The exam has 2 stages: a placement test and an exemption exam. As well as determining the student's level of English, the placement test assesses whether the student can pass the more difficult exemption exam or begin undergraduate courses at Bilgi University.
Stage One of the BILET Exam (Placement)
The first stage of BILET, the placement test, has Reading and Writing sections. The reading module consists of a total of 50 multiple-choice questions: 20 reading and 30 grammar. The writing module consists of 2 short writing paragraphs. To be able to take the Stage 2 (exemption) exam, students must score at least 45 on the BILET placement — first-stage exam.
Stage Two of the BILET Exam (Exemption)
The second-stage exam consists of listening, reading, writing and speaking modules held over two days.
The speaking module is held on the first day, lasts 4–5 minutes and is conducted by two examiners at the same time. While one examiner speaks, the other only listens and takes notes. Each student is asked on average 4–5 questions covering their views on general topics such as hobbies, media and education.
On the second day, students complete the reading, writing and listening modules.
The reading module consists of an article of 1,000–1,500 words and 10–12 questions. Students have a maximum of 60 minutes to complete the reading module.
For the writing module, students must write an article of 400–450 words. They have 1 hour.
The listening module has about 10 questions and lasts about 12 minutes. Students must note down what they hear and then answer the questions given. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours. Students must score 60 or above to begin their undergraduate education.
At One World, we give fully student-focused one-to-one private lessons to develop BILET exam skills. To create a study plan to prepare the student for the BILET exam, we first give a placement test. Based on the result obtained, the student studies within a lesson programme specially prepared for them.
